This You Need to Know: Breath of Fire
Holiday Tip #2 Put Fresh Air into Your Body
Having an anxiety attack because you still haven't booked your plane ticket for holiday travel? Can't breathe because after you went all out for gifts this year your bank account is now empty? Is your family driving you crazy? What stresses you out during the holidays? Deep breathing can help us get through and come out feeling strong. Today I am going to teach you a kundalini exercise that has helped me and it's called breath of fire. Breath of fire is very easy to do and is full of healing benefits. The most obvious being that is oxygenates your body immediately. It is said that doing 3 minutes of breath of fire will clean all the blood in your body. This exercise will heat you up and empower you. It’s also a great way to strengthen your nervous system. It’s very stimulating, rejuvenating and makes you feel incredibly vibrant. Let's breathe is out, shall we?
Step 1: Sit comfortably with your legs crossed (this is called “easy pose” in kundalini).
Step 2: Breathe in through your nose.
Step 3: Breathe out through your nose.
Step 4: Repeat and see if you can speed it up (the inhalations and exhalations should be even. Concentrate on your nose and the rhythm of your breath).
Step 5: If you feel comfortable hold your hands above your head with your hands forming fists but leave your thumbs sticking out and close your eyes as you continue to breath rapidly.
*Please do not do breath of fire if you are menstruating or pregnant
